D.O. and the Garage Band - Girl (I Think About You)

It’s no secret that pop music is — generally speaking — terrible.

Two nights ago I was driving home with some friends and listening to a pop album by a band that gets plenty of radio airtime. As I listened to their lyrics, I was convinced that I could write a pop song (assuming that what they were producing was the standard).

The next day, between watching a lot of March Madness and playing disc golf, I found time to write lyrics and music for the song, and record it on my computer using Garageband. So needless to say, the quality is unparalleled.

I’m hoping to make myself a one-hit-wonder with this song, so if you’re inspired by it, feel free to share/reblog/get me a record deal.

Girl (I Think About You)

Girl, I think about you a lot
Girl, you’re often on my brain
Girl, I think about you a lot
And I like it (I like it) I like it that way

I think about you when I’m driving on the highway at night and the moon is in the sky
I think about you when I’m pushing my cart up and down the grocery store aisle
I think about you when I sit and you when I stand
And when I wash my hands I think about you. You.

Girl, you’re basically all I see
Girl, I wonder if you see me because
Girl, I think we were meant to be (I think we were meant to be)
I think we were meant to be

I think about you when I’m driving on the highway at night and the moon is in the sky
I think about you when I’m pushing my cart up and down the grocery store aisle
I think about you when I sit and you when I stand
And when I wash my hands I think about…

You when I’m on an airplane, you when I’m on a boat
You when I’m on a fast train, or on my back in a swimming pool float
You when I’m baking cookies, you when I’m wearing socks
You when I’m drinking lattes, and you when I’m climbing rocks

I think about you when I’m driving on the highway at night and the moon is in the sky
I think about you when I’m pushing my cart up and down the grocery store aisle
I think about you when I sit and you when I stand
And when I wash my hands I think about you.

I think about you when I’m driving on the highway at night and the moon is in the sky
I think about you when I’m pushing my cart up and down the grocery store aisle
I think about you when I sit and you when I stand
And when I wash my hands I think about you.

why tumblr?

For the same reason I joined LinkedIn (a mistake): to ensure that I got the username “derrickoliver” before other people did.

Also, I don’t like that I can’t comment or like people’s tumbler posts without an account, so I caved.

No bloggings are likely to take place here, as my site takes care of those needs pretty well.
